Microsoft, Yahoo and Google
May 8th, 2007 Posted in Internet and TechnologySoftware giant Microsoft is reportedly in talks with Yahoo to discuss a possible merger to counter Google. If this merger goes through, it would be one of the largest in American history and the largest in Tech history. Instead of going through a merger or a takeover to fight Google, Microsoft and Yahoo should be looking at reasons that made Google flourish.
These reasons are very simple and easy to apprehend, which Microsoft and Yahoo failed to realize and still the point is not taken. It’s all about giving consumers what they want and adding value to products and services. If you look at any Google products, you will know what I mean. Just compare Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo Mail and you will understand. Google has always come up with innovative products; on the other hand, Microsoft and Yahoo failed to keep up with consumers’ demand and even ignored to update their existing products. Growing bigger through acquisitions is a good thing (when Microsoft has $50 billion to spend) but it wont do any good if consumers are not satisfied. Big companies should look at smaller things at the root level first before going after bigger things.
